Cold weather On Padre Island has left area beaches empty. The beach crowds on this opening Saturday of the largest week in Spring Break look more like a Monday morning in the middle of January. On White Cap Beach there were two people! South Packery Beach had four cars and two dogs!
Never to fear that Spring Break 2009 is lost though. Area weather forecasts call for Spring Break 2009 weather to reach the low 80's by Monday and stay warm through the entire week. Sounds a lot better than Wisconsins forecast for next week in the high 30's and still frozen. Sunshine, no rain and no school. Sounds like being on the beaches of North Padre Island will be the perfect place to be. Speaking of beaches, the rain we have had along with a lot of hard work by Nueces County Beach crews have got the beaches in great condition. Soft sand has been pushed up to the dunes. The rain has compacted sands for driving and the beaches are free of trash and debris.
